programme search
When I search for a programme the results arrive in the ONE DEMAND page. How can I get the search results to appear in the TV Guide, the way the Sky+ did?

hi @JD18
Unfortunately, as you may have realised, the UI on SKY Q was designed from the ground up and does not really include much of anything the ways SKY Hd works
Thus, I am afraid, the search doesn't work that way.
Once you have done a search you should see a tab 'On this week' (assuming the programme is on in the next week) which will show episodes due up, but this is in the thumbnail / episode mode not the TV Guide mode. You can select record and possibly select 'Other showings' - this latter selection being a more tabular format

What is the difference between recording and downloading on Sky Q?

Re: programme search
Please can you also explain to me why the On Demand page will offer an episode but won't let you record it (offering a down arrow instead), even though you can record that very episode in the TV Guide page?

TBH - We don.t always fully understand the thinking of the designers or know the code behind it
In ths case of the going via the 'on demand' tab , I guess they assume you are just looking just for On demad & not upcoming via satellite channels
Edit BTW if a show is already available on demand that may well not have adverts (or less adverts) that you would get if you record from the Satellite channel using the TV guide

Sorry I missed this Question
Recording - records from the Satellite as it is broadcast (including as I mention above any adverts)
On Demand downloads the episodes from servers (using broadband) - which may be better, as I mentioned often having no or less adverts but may not be as convenient t if you have slow internet
BTW if you have - Home - Settings = Prefernces Auto download next episode set to on, it will start downloading the next episode as soon as start watching an epiosode (assuming there is one to download)
