new sky dish
we were thinking about getting sky Q - currently our sky dish is mounted on the chimney. I have seen and heard that sky will not fit a dish any higher than a small set of steps - is this correct?
I really don't want it next to my window. We have a lot of trees close to us and could, I think, block the signal.
Can I please ask ,if you have had a recent installation - where did they put the dish? did you ask for it to be higher?
look forward to replies - thanks Heather

Re: new sky dish
@Heather551 Have you actually tried to buy Sky Q recently or do you already have the kit (hence the existing dish)?
I only ask because it is not a product actively marketed by Sky these days, they really, really want you to buy Sky Stream or Glass instead, neither of which require a dish and may be a better choice anyway depending on your needs.
For example, I just tried the Sky website using an 'incognito' window on my browser and I can't even see Sky Q as an option to order.
A local satellite installer will be able to provide or move a dish to the required place if Sky won't, but you need to know if they will supply Sky Q first. If they will, then you can sort any dish requirements, but I don't believe a Sky engineer will touch a chimney install.

Re: new sky dish
Fair enough @oldfella, but the only way for me to get to it is to use incognito mode and use the direct URL, you can't choose Sky Q from the TV menu on the main Sky website, new customers are funnelled towards Glass and Stream.
I know the sales journey, I've tried 3 browsers and a vpn as well as incognito windows and Q is not on offer if you start at Sky.com.

I have no problem getting to it from the SKY main page (from a new 'in private' window due to cookies recognising my normal SKY account) - I just have to expand the TV drop down

Re: new sky dish
Are you switching from Sky+HD to Sky Q?
If so it's doubtful that the engineer will be able (due to Health & Safety) to complete the necessary changes to the LNB required for Sky Q.

Re: new sky dish
@stereohaven Sky Q is very much currently marketed. There's even a ongoing campaign to switch existing Sky+HD customers to Sky Q.

Re: new sky dish
Of course you do.
When you so called 'Superusers' have finished ganging up on someone like me as usual, why don't you actually try and help @Heather551 with some suggestions?

Re: new sky dish
@Heather551 I've seen a couple of new install on the street I live on and the dish on those has been installed a couple of feet below the guttering(so around 10 to 12 feet high).
Sky used to install higher using the specialist "at heights team" but I don't know if they still do with their more stringent health and safety rules, there is no harm in asking for that team if you decide to move to Q.
@stereohaven Quit trying to play the victim, no one is ganging up on you people are just pointing out the information you posted is completely incorrect.

They weren't "ganging up on you", they were just correcting your misinformation.
