I've having issues trying to re-pair a Sky Q remote.
I press and hold 7 & 9 and get the 4 flashes.
I then press and hold 1 & 3 and I get 2 flashes but no on-screen instructions appear.
The remote still works but in Infra-Red only mode. Bluetooth pairing doesn't happen.
I've tried having the remote at a distance of a few feet from the Main Q Sky Box and also just a few inches, neither works.
I've also tried a different Sky Remote. Exactly the same.
So then I tried pairing the remote with my Sky Q Mini. Again, it's exactly the same, hold 7 & 9, and get 4 flashes, hold 1 & 3 and get 2 flashes but again no on-screen instructions and no bluetooth pairing.
Is it possble there has been a software update that has broken the blutetooth pairing process?

A brand new Sky remote did the trick. The 2 remotes that couldn't pair flashed 2 twice at the "press 1 and 3" stage. The new remote looked like it flashed 4 times at the same point. Maybe the flashes mean something, but I've not been able to find any information about that.
Anyway, looks like the bluetooth modules in the remotes are prone to failing.

Have you got the Q box on with green led when you try to pair the remote?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreHi @graeme-p Have you tried power rebooting your Sky Q box. You could also try the pairing process using the menu. Home -> Settings -> Setup -> Remote control. Definitely no software changes that would effect the pairing or this community would light up ...

Yes, both the Main Box and the Mini are on when I'm trying this.
I forgot to mention that both boxes have been power-cycled only hours before trying to re-pair the remote. This was due to the mini losing contact with the main box. It seems to be happening quite often recently. I'm wondering if the main box is starting to show it's age.

Hi @graeme-p
Nothing on the main Box would effect you pairing a mini remote or the mini Bluetooth.

I did look at Home -> Settings -> Setup -> Remote control but that looks like it is only for getting the remote to control the TV power and Volume via Infra-Red, It's the bluetooth pairing I'm having issues with.

It's the remote on the Main Box that I wanted to re-pair. It tried on the Sky Q Mini to try and work out if it was the box or the remote that was the issue. As the remote wouldn't pair with either, my assumption was that the remote was the issue. So I tried a different (but identical) remote and that also failed to pair with either box. So that meant that it could still be either a sofware issue of both remotes have failed. If no one else is having an issue I guess I have to accept both the remotes have issues. I'll order a new one..if it works, I'll order a second.
Thanks for your help. .
