We presently use a Tecnomate to transfer the sky feed to a tv upstairs. We don't want a mini box. Will the Tecnomate still work with a Q box ?

hi @jono65
As Technomate make a variety of devices I think you need to give us more details of what it is (maybe a model number) and how it connects - if it connectes to SKY HD via RF then the answer is no
Althoough not an answer to your specific question you may wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

There is ways to use RF for sky q, but that requires a HDMI splitter that circumvents HDCP and then an HDMI to RF adapter which has an IR blaster built in.

Assuming you have one of these
You can use the below device to strip the HDCP and use the EDID from the TV which will then negotiate a handshake with HDCP cert from the TV with the Q box
Mods delete if this is illegal as I'm not sure on the legality of it.

The Technomate is a TM-50HD POE. I can't see if it fits into the sky box with an rf link as I can't see the rear of the sky box as it's in a cabinet.

This should work, as it has HDMI input from Sky Q box and then output to the TV, if Sky+HD worked on it then it should work on Sky Q as Sky+HD had HDCP also, albeit an older HDCP specification. But hopefully it should work.
