Unable to change channels

When I switch tv on sky sports 1 comes on and I am unable to change channels 

my additional mini box works OK

I take it you've tried the simple solution of changing the batteries in the Sky Q's remote?
Try turning off the Sky Q box & unplugging it then leaving for 30 minutes & plug back in.

Thanks, I have already tried these with no success.

I have since found out my remote control is faulty and needs replacing.

In the meantime if you have an Apple or Android device with Sky Go you can set up a virtual remote to control your Q boxes.
