Trying to connect SKY Q to wifi not SKY Broadband

Hi 

My dad has just moved into a care home and after speaking to sky the broadband and phone package has been cancelled and we are awaiting the boxes to return them. 

I am just having trouble connecting the Q box to the wifi. I have changed the settings and the box is showing connected to the network and I have updated the software but it keeps showing no satellite signal. The help options ask to check the satellite signal but there is no satellite at the care home. Does anyone have any idea what I am missing... I have been on with this for 2 days and losing the will to live 😞

If you have cancelled your Broadband what WiFi are you connecting to?

Sorry he cancelled the broadband at his old address and the care home provide wifi.

Ahhh OK @LOLLIPOLL 

Afraid the Q box needs a Satellite connection and not just WiFi.

Suggest you consider Sky Stream and contact Sky to point out change of address for your fathers account.

@LOLLIPOLL the Sky Q box needs to connect to a satellite dish to get its signal im afraid if the care home doesn't have a communal satellite dish then the Q box won't work the only option would be to switch to Sky Stream which only needs a broadband connection but has no recording facility
