@Marc601

There's a marked decrease in the number of Sky satellite engineers as Sky move away from satellite services, in fact quite a few were made redundant last year.

Even if you call Sky I think you may have a wait for a visit..

What Sky Q issue do you need an engineer for?

(edit for typo)

Re: Trying to book an online engineer visit

I can't book past beginning of July at all so it must be a system error.

@Marc601  You haven't answered @Daniel0210  question, why do you think you need to book an engineer?

Re: Trying to book an online engineer visit

I have lost satellite signal to some channels , I've followed all instructions per troubleshooting and have been told I need an engineer visit as it appears to be an issue with the dish.

@Marc601  Ok, you have 2 options, wait for an appoointment, or book a local installer at your own cost to realign the dish.

As explained by @Daniel0210 due to Sky's move away from satellite based TV there are simply too few Sky engineers on the road.

@Marc601
 Check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely either;
▫️a dish misalignment,
▫️a failing LNB (on the arm of the dish),
▫️water getting into the cabling,
▫️currently very heavy rain
so check the troubleshooting on this link
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-tv-no-satellite-signal-sky-q
It may then give you the opportunity to arrange an engineer. If it doesn’t you’ll need to contact Sky to book an engineer appointment.

If you are connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company or landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact direct.

It’s worth mentioning that:

🔹 a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels (amongst the first to be affected may be TNT or GB News),

🔹 a Sky Q box requires a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via the satellite so if that isn’t received the box will close down until the satellite signal is restored.

Re: Trying to book an online engineer visit

As explained I've checked all connections and I've rebooted and have been instructed to book an engineer visit, the issue is that they are offering appointments up to the first of July but nothing beyond it in fact nothing for a year so unless they are having a mass exodus of engineers on the 2nd of July they are offering appointments, I just need to know how to book an appointment more than a week in advance.

@Marc601  If it's not letting you then simply put, you can't.

If there are appointments avaialble in the next few weeks why not book one?  Sky don't operate on your schedule so if there are appintments in the next week or so then book it.

Why does it need to be a specific week?

Re: Trying to book an online engineer visit

The whole point of a booking system IS to structure an appointment around my availability which this system is not allowing me to do , hopefully more appointments will become available in the next few days which will allow me to book . Thank you for your input which is appreciated.

hi @Marc601

I have escalated your post to a SKY support team, who, hopefully, will be in touch.

They may not be able to book anything for you just yet but at least may be able to look into this for you

@SIM171

No one from Sky will contact you as a result of posting on here. Any Sky account/s you may have are not linked to your Community Forum username so no one knows who you are.

Can we help with your original issue?
