Hi sky community
I am bit confused by the changes that took place this week regarding skys SD channel switching off. I was under the impression that we didn't need to do anything but when the next step takes place in June this year do I need to upgrade my package to HD?. Thanks Ben.

Although it may not contain all scrambled channels probably the best list I know of :
https://www.lyngsat.com/Astra-2E-2F-2G.html
(includes channels not availble via SKY as well)
As you will see all HD channels use DVB-S2
P.S. I haven' looked but it may not reflect the changes to SKY Sports & Cinema SD channels that switched over this week

Depends what type of box you have
first thing first can you watch channel 5 in hd on 105 via your current box(es)?

Re: Sky sd channels
I can access channel 5 in HD but my question is I am a bit worried about Sky turning off the rest of the sd channels in the future because I have got the HD add on do I need that HD add on to continue watching on my sky Q box?. Thanks Ben.

hi @Trips+out
SKY is not switching off more SD channels - it is changing the way they are transmitted using a method that the old SD boxes cannot decode - so if you have SKY Q (which I am guessing you have as you posted in the SKY Q group) or a SKY HD box, this will not affect you
(Technically the 'switch off' this week of the Sports and Cinema channels was actually removal from the EPG as the channels are still broadcasting to Ireland as some customers in Ireland do not subscribe to HD versions)

Re: Sky sd channels
@Trips+out as things stand customers will still need the hd add on to watch entertainment channels in hd , sd versions of the entertainment channels will still remain for those that don't have the hd add on
we have not heard or seen anything yet to deviate from the above

@Trips+out that's correct, but as I mentioned above if you want to continue to watch the hd version of the entertainment channels you still need the hd add on

Not that we know of but as mentioned they are changing the way the SKY owned SD channels are transmitted - which the SKY HD & SKY Q boxes can decode.

Re: Sky sd channels
The reason why I posted about it again is trying to get sky's attention because I don't want to be in a situation where they announce such big changes without warning.
