Sky box placement

I have recently moved into a new house that has a media wall already made... So now I need to work out how they have made the setup work.

The space downstairs is for a TV only. Upstairs in a storage cupboard are the cables for the sky box.

I have a Sky Q setup at present, what I need to work out is what I need to get to move my box upstairs so still to be able to change channels. Some talk is the Q box will connect to the remote no matter where it is? Can anyone help please??

hi @Fern1

SKY Q voice remotes, when paired to the box,  do use bluetooth and have a very good range.

I have done tests with mine and used it from my back garden with my box in an alcove by my front window - so through 2 walls and 2 rooms & also from a rear upstairs room.

You do need to be aware, however, that if you need to reset the box or remote then you may need to use it with line of sight of the box - but that is just whilst re-pairing.

The biggest thing for you to bear in mind is possibly the HDMI cables from the bos to the TV - if you have a 4K TV the max length is around 3m & also making sure the SKY Q box has sufficient ventilation
