Sky box import
Hi, we have recently moved our telly and sky box. The cable to the sky box was too long and my husband had to cut it. This means the connectors are no longer attached to the cable in order to connect it to the sky box. Can someone please come out to sort this.

hi @Hannah9512
Does the cable reach your box and you just need new connectors fitting ?

Hi @Hannah9512 You are not talking to Sky, this is a community of customers. Search Amazon for F Plug Connectors. Search YouTube if you don't know how to fit them.

Re: Sky box import
Cutting the cable didn't seem essential and would clearly stop it working... Sky may charge for this and it may take many days (weeks) to arrange.
As above, you can do it yourself or pay someone local to do it quicker.

Re: Sky box import
This outcome must have come as quite a surprise 😉
You can just re-fit the f-plug connectors to the new ends of the cable. You'll need to strip back the surround from the central wire. Take care, they're a bit fussy.

@Chodley as long as the F-plugs haven't been crimped on.
When I had Q installed as well as changing the LNB the engineers also changed the f-plugs and used crimped ones
I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Oh nice touch!
In which case, the OP would need to buy a couple of f-plugs too.

As others have suggested you may be best to get a couple of F-plugs & do it yourselves
SKY may charge if you get them to do it (although they may not)
if you do it yoursleves then:
When preparing the connectors you need to make sure that none of the fine strands of the outer sheathing make contact with the Central core wire - if even one touches it can cause a short circuit & the box will stop providing power to the LNB on the dish
Also, you need to make sure that the outer sheathing copper does make contact with the outer barrel of the F connector - if not, then in this case the voltage won't be supplied to the LNB
