Sky Q software Q330 (63yh6dg) problem!

This software update seems to have introduced a new glitch within only Sky HD channels that I have never see before.

All SD channels including BBC, ITV, Channel 4/5 HD do not suffer from this static/ pixels on the first 1 sec form channel change.

The issue seem to be a decoding bug in the software.

Had a Sky Eng and another external Eng come and test my dish and replaced a new LNB and the issues still there.

Sky must should investigate this!

Sky users  on this forum please check Sky sports specifically channel Sky Tennis , F'ball and cricket and let me know if you see this issue.

Please note this is intermittent and doesn't happen on every channel change.

Thanks

Well, I'll take it all back.

Managed to recreate it on the Movie channels.

It is the first frame that starts moving where small artefacts appear where there is motion but disappear after that.

I can't say whether this is a 'new' issue though.  Not exactly a priority investigation imho.

The blanking issue on Sports channels seems to be a different issue not related to this.

No issues here (same version).

Assuming you've performed a power cycle on the box I suspect it's an issue with your box as opposed to a new bug.

Yes, I power cycled and the Eng used a new box that dialysed the same  issue.

Re: Sky Q software Q330 (63yh6dg) problem!

Today, I even reset my Panasonic OLE to factory to eliminate and handshake glitch between Sky Q and my Tv.Also, I have tried  every HDMI port with anew certified cable  The static is still visible on All Sky HD channels.

I also have new LNB installed and signal quality / strength are solid.

As of today, I am now experiencing blackout on channel 403 and 409. The channel would come on for about 1 minute and then its black screen.

Sure, but it seems a local issue to your hardware/wiring - perhaps some interference?

I doubt it's the software update, but anything is possible.  (The forum would have many many posts if it was)

@Ajaja

What did the Sky engineer say?

What have Sky said and done after you've reported this issue is still there?

I am on the same software update since 22 October and fine here.

Previous engineer said nothing. Walked away without a resolution.

I have another coming tomorrow to see if they can look at the dish and cables.

Re: Sky Q software Q330 (63yh6dg) problem!

Further update!!!

New cable installed, new box running Q320 not 330 , new lnb signals 90 quality and 70 strength

Sky sport intermittently play for 10 seconds and then black out.

Static pixelation still happening on all Sky HD channels. Nothing on BBC, ITV , Channel 4 ans all SD channels

Can this be  escalated  to Sky team to investigate the satellite transponders and servers!

Thanks

@Ajaja

That issue is being discussed in this thread

Re: Sky Q software Q330 (63yh6dg) problem!

The title is what I though the problem was  is but it's not the software!!!

After one week troubleshooting, changing hardware I have come to a conclusion that the static viable on Sky HD channels points toward Sky’s own signal chain — either:

Encoding or uplink processing at the playout centre (where they compress and multiplex the HD feed), or

• A transponder feed issue on Astra 28.2°E that introduces very brief artefacts in the digital stream.

When a broadcast encoder momentarily drops or miscalculates a macroblock during fast motion (e.g., tennis serve, racing cars, or explosions in dramas), you’ll see tiny sparkles/static bursts on screens

Sky Max HD and Sky Tennis HD are the most effected by static, and can share a transponder with high bit-rate variability.

If one uplink encoder is slightly mis-timed or dropping macroblocks, you’ll see that intermittent static

Hoefully Sky reads this assessment and investigate.

This isn't the place to pass technical advice to Sky.

It is strange but I see none of these artefacts so there must be some mismatch somewhere that only affects a minority.  (Perhaps a particular model of Q)

Re: Sky Q software Q330 (63yh6dg) problem!

I've not noticed any of the static problems either so it can't be an issue at the source or everyone would be seeing it.

Re: Sky Q software Q330 (63yh6dg) problem!

It's the place to raise concern and put forward some technical issue assumptions that are sometimes not widely reported.

it's definitely no the Q box that I have tried a new box and it's the same thing.

Also, the pixelation only effects Sky HD channels and not ITV , BBC, Ch5 and 4 and all SD.

As I said previously, it's something to do with the theHD package and transponder.

It can't be as everyone would be getting the same problem and there would be many complaints about it on this forum.
