Sky Q mini box not connecting

Hello, I have a main sky box and 2 mini boxes. The main box and 1 of the mini boxes is connected to our non sky broadband, however the third one has recently had connection problems. If I press network set up it tells me the network name is SKY745ED rather than my own broadband and I can't seem to change this. I have tried re-setting it but this doesn't work, it tells me I can't connect to our broadband router. Any thoughts please, I've tried everything to change the network name including turning off the main box and mini box etc but still no good?

Not sure how you went about the reset, was it this?:


Switch the Sky Q Mini box off at the mains.
Hold down the Reset button on the back of the Sky Q Mini box and switch it back on at the mains.
Keep holding it until the light on the front flashes red and green. This will take about 30 seconds.
Once it flashes red and green, press the standby button on the front of the box.
If the lights don't show after 30 seconds, repeat steps 1 to 2.
The box will then restart.
After the on-screen messages have disappeared, press Home on your Sky Q remote to switch your box back on.

Thanks for taking the time to write. I have tried this but It's still not connecting to my network though. It still seems to be recognising the Sky network name rather than my own broadband?

@JasonR70 if Sky is not your broadband provider then your mini boxes do not connect to your home wifi they connect to a mesh wifi that the main Q box produces which will be why the mini boxes states it is connected to a Sky network name as that will be the mesh from the Q main box

Thanks @Laing1 this is strange because my other mini box references my own broadband network name but the one that's not working references a Sky one? Still can't connect it though!

Thank you all - I've now fixed the issue by telling the box I had a new broadband provider (even though I didn't) to force it to set up again!

i have had SKY Q Mini box  for 6 weeks that I have to reboot after every time I switch on.

Sky should not be selling defective products to the public. I pay a huge rental for faulty equipment and spend hours trying to fix it. I am 94 and my time is limited.

I like you am elderly (85) and I'm totally fed up with the problem of Sky Q Mini box not connecting to the  In Sky Q box. Up and down the stairs several times each night all for nothing  !

Now I've ordered a new Mini box but that won't arrive until Tuesday at the earliest. Also spoke with Sky TV today so they have arranged for an Engineer appt to visit on Thursday PM.

Lets see if the new mini box works, if not it's up to Sky to resolve.

Fed up paying them money when their products don't work correctly.

on main box,
go to settings, click right, go to set up, click right, down to preferences, set standby mode off...sky to thick to tell you this!

Thank you so much, after trying all night to no available tried your advice. I ticked standby mode active and came upstairs and a few minutes later sky came back on. 3 hours it took me. Very grateful

I had the same issue, in the end the engineer hardwire connected the mini box to the sky Q box via a cat 5 cable, works all the time now.
