Funny that they're using the image of a Stream puck to illustrate the Sky Q minibox... oops.

Re: Sky Q no longer being sold

They still offer Sky Q. When you ring them merely asking about it causes their staff to quickly admit it's better. Next time you speak to eg a Sky engineer ask them if they themselves use Sky Q or stream.

Re: Sky Q no longer being sold

Yeah a lot of people here watch UTV (ITV Northern Ireland) and the other ITV channels (2,3,4.... Quiz) via the manual channels.

The problem is, Sky relies on people using iPlayer and ITVX but those are not available in Ireland (Even through BBC1,2,3,4 is available to us (Channel 141,142, etc))

but Virgin Media Player and RTE Player are not suitable replacements for the iPlayer/ITVX so our options are very lacking.

It will be a silly move if Sky discontinues Q here in Ireland.

I feel we must re-iterate that SKY Q is still available in the UK - just not available to select online (as per the post marked Answer)

Even though Ireland may still be offering it online, I suspect it may also stop being offered online in the not too distant future.

We are a few years away from the Satellites running out of fuel but this will happen towards the end of the decade and as we approach that, then no doubt SKY Q offering will cease. Clearly there would be no point in offering 24 month contracts for something that cannot be provided

The same satellites serve the UK/NI and RoI, so there's no possibility of maintaining access in one but not the other.

Re: Sky Q no longer being sold

That's not true. It has changed how SkyQ customers can manage their package online.

You can't use self-service online anymore tp cancel packages or downgrade services.

It's a painful process to get through to a human (the virtual assisstent is useless), who then has to cancel on your behalf.

@bejaho

That's incorrect. To remove a part of your TV package you need to contact Sky giving the standard 31 days notice. If you have 'in contract' discounts you may not be able to remove them.

You may be able to remove it via this link which includes a message option (usually available between 9am & 7.30pm) or by calling in using the number that should appear.

Re: Sky Q is no longer purchasable online

I get it, tech moves on. However, my usually mostly reliable sky broadband has been disconnecting several times this year, which as a sky q customer obviously doesn't affect the TV, but of course if I had sky stream it would do.  Btw, nobody has ever found out why my internet keeps going off, by the time open reach come out it's resolved itselfesf for a few weeks,.... Lol

Re: Sky Q is no longer purchasable online

In the interim, they are not supporting Sky Q. Sky Go is an example. There are now serious issues with it and when we are away we can no longer get Sky. Sky Go has been abandoned.

Totally unacceptable service.

Not really, you can get new SkyQ contracts, home moves and service calls, that isn't a abandoned service.

Sky Go is also still receiving app updates as well, all the versions I have work well.

Re: MRe: Sky Q is no longer purchasable online

Sky Go doesn't work. Period. It is flaky, locks up doing updates unless you change network connect!! True. You contact Sky and they ignore you. Last adviser searched this forum for suggestions. Are you using a VPN or changed package? Jeepers. It appears there are known problems but no timescale for fixing them.

Going away for a few days. No Sky.

Of course going online means you cannot skip adverts which are irrelevant, targetted at generations with disposable cash, insulting, depressing and offensive. (Gambling).

I find it works okay. Pity it's not HD though. Even if you have HD add on.

@Slcmpc Sky Q still receives update periodically so not been abandoned. As others have said Sko is constantly getting update whether it be Android IOS or windows in fact Sky use customers to test these updates. I go away frequently in the UK and have no problem with Sky Go work are you having problems with it in the UK or are you going abroad ?

Re: Sky Q is no longer purchasable online

According to AI 58% of Sky subscribers are subscribing to Sky Q. In that case they will need time to gradually convince so many clients to switch to stream. There is a risk that a sudden forced migration en masse could trigger a wave of 'shopping around' and exits from Sky. If they have a firm deadline in mind, they should write directly to Q customers asap and give them a fixed specific date in the future, versus rumours of deadlines vs extensions.
