that does seem unlikely. Can you start it without the hdmi (or ethernet if applicable) plugged in and see if it ever gets to a steady state with an amber light? Should take 5-10 minutes.

Hello again, Chodley! The box remains in a state of stasis, unable to move past the "hello" stage! I'm gonna leave it now until tomorrow. Thanks for your help. 👍🙂
