My sky box is doing this exact same thing and I have now had 3 replacment boxes and an engineer visit. Can someone please post the issue and the fix please.

Do you have an EE router connected by ethernet? Long shot but I just wonder...

It seems that there might be something screwy with the ethernet ports on these (another thread has something from EE admitting it, I should have bookmarked it)
Can you try wifi (usually less reliable but in these circumstances...) or putting a cheap 100Mb switch in between?

That a very strange problem to have with Ethernet ports, but I will give it a go and let you know if that resolves the issue. Thanks for your help.

Just FYI. Although we did have this issue many months ago (and we also have an EE router with a wired connection into our main Sky Q box) we've not had issues for a good while I.e months and months.
From memory, According to the 2 Sky engineers who came out to sort this problem, it was a combination of.......in no particular order.....poor build quality boxes, software updates on the box and storage capacity. available on the box.

I guess. But in their defence, they're not really software (or hardware) engineers.
Yes, they should know a lot about the technology, but as somebody who works in IT development, knowing everything about a system that has so many variables is almost impossible and definitely improbable. Especially when other factors from a 3rd party, i.e. EEs own technology, are changing regularly.

Update - connecting via WiFi instead of ethernet cable to the EE router seems to have resolved the problem.
I was having the issue daily and since connecting via WiFi I haven't had it happen once in about 9 or 10 days.
Thanks all for your advice on this.
