You already have a router. A booster might well help

you can also try using powerline adapters.

Re: Sky Q box neds Router/Booster

I am having difficulty explaining my problem so I will continue using my old box until I can find someone who can sort out this problem. I will  reconnect to my old sky box and wait for someone who can understand my problem, failing that I will sack sky

@handley75 Did you actually speak to Sky via the chat invite? if yes why do you thin they didn't understand your issue, if you didn't use the chat invite then why not?

Your problem is easy to understand. The Q is out of wifi range of the router (or the mini is not in range of the main Q box). Did you tell the live chat person that?

what I don't understand is what box you had before since a sky HD box could never be used with a Q, and mini boxes have always been the same, so there's no "old vs new type"

What might help when explaining: Use separate sentences, as you seem to be bundling multiple things together which makes it very confusing to read. e.g. "Tv downstaairs in lounge Sky reception in front bedroom". After reading that miltiple times, I think you just mean you have 2 Sky boxes, one in the lounge and one in a bedroom. And that there are cables running to both rooms from the dish.

Try not using words like;

aerial when / if it's a dish

TV when it's irrelevant, what matters is the Sky box and its type

sky box which is ambiguous, the big main box with the dish connection is the Q box, the smaller one is a mini. The older system was called Sky+HD

the broadband is connected with a router

A booster is just an in-house wifi extender,

Ah hang on - were you using two HD boxes for multiroom before?

And now the whole thing has been upgraded to Q?

So there are sat dish cables going to the upstairs room but you mean the mini box has no way to connect to those?

Yeah you just need a Q booster in the middle of the house probably. The engineer who installed Q should have tested the mini was working properly though..

That cannot happen with a SkyHD to Sky Q migration, work has to be done on the dish.

Could you please tell us exactly which Sky TV services you've moved from and to? Have you moved to Sky Stream?

Sky Q was not available 20 years ago and Sky HD (the old service) is not getting any new boxes so some hardware here has definitely changed.
