I'm not sure if at the point of your posting this, if sky have discounted sky Q boxes but they definitely have now as confirmed on Uswitches website.
Sky are now only selling sky stream and sky glass as both are streaming services.
The reason I have come across this is due to Sky sports channels now migrating moving over to "Sky sports+" which is an additional streaming area built into Sky Q and the other streaming products Sky sells. So if I want to find a sports game that's playing, I have found it's not even on the tv guide anymore and I have to press the red button on a Sky channel to access this seperate streaming page.
Streaming is the future but Sky Q is built around being able to record but the adaptation of "sky sports +" on Sky Q removes the need of being able to record the channel as it's via the streaming platform.
This made me think that Sky introducing this new "Sky sports +" is to slowing move Sky Q over to more of a streaming box than satellite box.
I have since researched online and found that Sky Q has been discontinued to new customers signing up to Sky.
So the future of Sky is going to be their streaming boxes which is disappointing in some ways due to not being able to record as their streaming devices don't have physical hard drives, they just stream from the internet.
Its also somewhat sad that the streaming boxes from Sky don't require any engineer visits as they are posted and just plug and play due to running off the internet and not via the traditional Sky dish, meaning Sky engineers will likely get phased out in a few years when the old boxes are not getting used anymore.

As of now, Sky don't sell Sky Q packages to new customers joining Sky, the only options are Sky stream and Sky glass. If your an existing customer then your fine. Slightly concerning the future of Sky is via streaming.

Not true at all, https://www.sky.com/tv/sky-q
Eventually of course they'll stop selling it for all of the previously given reasons, but I'm not sure what's concerning about it though. Pretty much all TV is going to be streaming only, sooner rather than later. There may be a (very) basic Freeview service although even that may not happen.

Apologies if they have got this wrong but from Sky's website, I can't see an option for Sky Q unless you specifically search for it in your search engine which I have just noticed.

On the SKY Website there should be a dropdown for TV which has SKY Q as an option - it is far from obvious & I wonder if some browsers can't show it properly

They may not be actively promoting it but you can still have it...

Sorry yes I have noticed if you specifically search for Sky Q it's available but from Sky's main website, it's not an option from the main tabs along the top, just "Sky glass" and "sky stream". I think u switch need to re word their article as per below
https://www.uswitch.com/tv/guides/sky-q-box-review/
Im not worried about me changing, I more mean engineer jobs as engineers won't be needed if the boxes are just posted without the need of an engineer installing or repairing any of the equipment

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreMuch as I hate the thought of losing satellite delivery and recording, especially while I still have a FTTC connection for my broadband rather than a fancy Full Fibre one, it is inevitable.
It's been very clear over the last 2 - 3 years that Sky has been re-positioning itself as an "entertainment platform" instead of "the satellite broadcaster" and I believe the other commercial decision here is around advertising.
Quite frankly, we have been getting away with skipping the ads for too long now and the content suppliers either want us to watch the ads or pay to skip them. In fact, they cannot afford for us to have the choice much longer.
Conversely, plenty of us want to pay less and ads can help deliver that, just look at the streaming models.
Ultimately, Q is really struggling now from a hardware perspective. If you just use it as a PVR and use another device for apps, it remains the best in the market (IMHO), but it cannot handle everything being asked of it much longer and no one is going to commit to delivering new satellite based PVR hardware.
Much as it pains me, we are on the final lap. Once 99% of us have Full Fibre, Sky Glass and Sky Stream version 2/3 with more power under the hood and better components arrive, notice will be served.

Yes I have just found this out but the fact it's not appearing on the website suggests they don't want new customers to be offered Sky Q pushing people to choose the new streaming options. It won't be long before it isn't offered to new customers as per u switches article which is slightly misleading

Completely agree. It's annoying recording won't be an option as you have less control as the content won't be stored on your box and will be on the cloud which isn't ideal when it comes to skipping ads as Sky charge an additional fee

I am unable to locate Sky Q on their main home page on multiple browsers so I think it's more deliberate than a browser thing.

As mentioned using my Edge browser on Windows 11 this is what I get - you have to use the dropdown on TV to see SKY Q
Edit : I did do this in a Private window so it did not pick up any cookies from my SKY account
