Sky Q / Multiroom minimum bandwidth
Hi guys,
As above, is there a minimum recommended speed for Sky Q/Multiroom? I ask becasue my Dad's recent install, on his bedroom box, buffers/stutters quite a bit with regular use - BBC1, ITV etc. Sky News.
Streaming services; iPlayer, Netflix, ITVX etc. are fine. I think he gets a steady 15/17MB - very light user, not a lot of connected devices elsewhere in his house. I was also thinking of maybe trying a different channel on his wifi router, if this is the issue.
What do you think?

Re: Sky Q / Multiroom minimum bandwidth
Q to Q connections do not use the Internet - the boxes create their own 5GHz (ch 36) mesh. The internet bandwidth is irrelevant.

Re: Sky Q / Multiroom minimum bandwidth
Interesting... any suggestions of what else to try then? Does placement of the boxes matter?

Re: Sky Q / Multiroom minimum bandwidth
Typically Sky will despatch one of their wireless booster units if you log an issue like that with them.
Yes, placement matters because the Mini is getting its WiFi signal from the main Q box rather than the ISP router.

Re: Sky Q / Multiroom minimum bandwidth
@slipdIt depends a bit on who supplies your broadband, if it is not Sky then the connection between the boxes uses its own mesh on 5Ghz Ch36 nothing to do with your home WiFi, this signal may be too weak and you need a Q booster, Sky will supply if needed.
If Sky is your broadband provider it uses your home WiFi which should work OK if you get a good signal to use other devices at the same location as your mini box. Your Wifi speed is more then enough.
