I have Sky Q and a sky mini. Just had VM broadband installed but now mini is now connecting. VM works on the main SKY Q. Tried connecting the new network on teh mini and getting the WPS via the main box, but still no luck. States no connectivity and can't locate an IP address.

Hi. Yes I did.
I know you have rebooted and reset @SB55
But try the following procedure.
First reset your broadband router.
On 3rd party broadband and your router does not have a reset button, reboot it by disconnecting the power lead for 30 secs and then reconnecting.
Wait until the router is completely back and running and then try a Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to connect by WiFi to your router. Even if reset is not listed there is still an option to connect by WiFi to Sky or 3rd party router
On 3rd party (non Sky ) broadband then you need to enter the SSID and password for the router 2.4 Ghz WiFi band which I'm sure you are aware.
When the main Q box is back up and running reboot the mini.
To reboot press Standby on your mini remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your mini box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your mini remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the mini box (Amber led)
note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.
As soon as the mini is try another Network reset on the mini.try a Network Reset on the mini.
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).
Failing all of the above you may need a Sky Q WiFi Booster to position midway between your main Q box and the mini and you will need to contact Sky directly.

Jumping in here as you can answer my question. I am moving to a new house and only virgin fibre is available, hence I will have Virgin fibre but Sky Q and four mini boxes.
Can you please confirm for me that the mini boxes still get full functionality for apps, Netflix etc?
Would really appreciate an answer to this

Yes, of course. Those streaming apps on a sky box will work on any internet connection (with enough bandwidth).

Brilliant thank you, another forum post suggested that the mesh network gave the minis access to the main box and recorded content, but not streaming content.
It makes sense if the main box is connected to the internet that the minis still get internet access but just wanted to double check before committing to an 18 month contract!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI think they use the Q mesh as a bridge to get to the internet streaming services. One of the boxes in the mesh behaves like a hub for all the others (don't think it has to be the Q itself, seems to be dynamically decided)
