Sky Q Dish New Install
Hi we are currently with Virgin Media but are looking to take the opportunity to swap to Sky when we move house shortly.
The property currently does not have any Sky or Cable TV installed so we would be looking to get a Sky Q dish installed. My question is, do Sky need to dig a trench from the road to the house wall to link the property to the network, looking at the other properties on the road, we would probably need to have the dish at the front of the house and our concern is that the front garden is paved so wondering if this would cause any issues. There is a telephone pole near the property but not sure if Sky use these or whether everything is under ground.
Many thanks

Re: Sky Q Dish New Install
No digging involved for installation of a dish. The engineer will need to drill a hole in the external wall near where the box will be situated though.

Re: Sky Q Dish New Install
You don't have to move to Sky broadband to get Sky Q. It will work with Virgin Broadband.
If you want to move to Sky BB then the installation will depend on the OpenReach connection - it may require digging etc.

Re: Sky Q Dish New Install
Virgin Media is cable television, so they need access underground to a property from their wider network.
Sky Q is satellite television, so the feed is from the dish mounted on the property to the main Q box within it.

Re: Sky Q Dish New Install
How Sky Broadband (which is not a satellite service) would be delivered to the property can be established by putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker, which should indicate the applicable provisioning type.

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.
Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.
