Samsung TV not turning off

Hi, I have new Samsung TV and have paired the sky remote to it. It switches on the TV ok and changes volume but will not switch the TV off 

I have tried all sort of combinations with power button but cannot get it switch off

Any advice?

Are you holding the power button for 3 seconds?

Yes. Holding down for 3 seconds just resets the TV.  The TV goes off for a spilt second but then reboots

I recently obtain a Samsung QN90B, a short press will turn off the Qbox, and the longer press of about 3secs, until the white line appears across the display, will turn off the TV.  One short press turns on both.

Hi @Jimmer1611 

Maybe your 3 seconds is fractionally too long and you need to try a tad less.

Some Sony TV's will reboot with a long off press.

However I get on fine here with mine with a 1 2 3 off

i have just spoken to someone at samsung who said my model could not do it. They said the samsung remote could control sky but not the other way around. I have older samsung tvs that do it fine. very annoyiong

Has anyone found a solution to this yet? I bought a Samsung UE65CU8500 yesterday and am having the very same issue - sky remote will not turn off the TV, just reboots it. Controls the sound and turns on the TV just fine however. Really, really frustrating.

@Turkish9 have you read the post directly above yours where @JD6 has had a reply from Samsung stating this doesn't work on some of their TV's

I'm a year in now and still don't know how 

I believe it can be done via some combination as I have managed it by mistake and also my child has.  

Tried numerous time to replicate what I done without any joy

Yes I did. I was hoping there was perhaps an update so software in either the TV or sky box to get this to work but obviously not. 

Funnily enough, when you try to programme your sky remote to work the TV, it asks you if you know the model of your TV. Mine is not in the list.

@Turkish9 you could try saying its not known then trying all the options it gives you for Samsung unless you have tried that as my LG is not listed but by clicking on the not known option one of the options it gives me works
