SKY Q Box loses connection every day

SKY Q box every day loses connection to the internet.  Other devices occasionally lose connection, but not as much.

As of today, after following all the usual instructions of rebooting the router and the Q box, I still have no connection.

Sky Service Checker is saying there is no faults.

Am unable to check Q box using Ethernet cable as engineers fitted router by front door, so need around 10 metres of cable to connect that way.

This has been going on for over a month, but first time that I have been unable to restore connection to the Q box.

Hi @Rappy 

Have you carried out a Network reset on the Q box to help your issue.

Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to connect by WiFi to your router.
If you are on Sky broadband you will be asked to press the WPS button on the Sky router. (Not on the Q box as the Network reset will start the main Q box WPS automatically). Make sure you press the WPS button on the Sky router and not the reset button.
if you are on 3rd party (non Sky ) broadband then you need to enter the SSID and password for the router 2.4 Ghz WiFi band.

Standard Network Reset, using WPS button.

 

Can't connect any other way, router is too far from Q box for Ethernet Cable.

So you are Sky Broadband then @Rappy 

Maybe worth asking Sky for a Q booster to position midway between your Main Q box and your Sky hub.

Are you pressing the WPS button on the main Q box?

That's a good point, the instructions on the network reset never mentioned pressing the WPS on the Q box.

 

Have tried that now, and got half my connection back, still no connection to internet, now been over 2 hours today.

Hi @Rappy 

It shouldn't be necessary to press the WPS on the main Q box as the Network reset should start the box WPS automatically.

However it can sometimes work if you press the WPS on the main box and then within 2 minutes the Q hub WPS.

Just make sure the WPS lights are flashing on both units .

Worth getting a Q WiFi booster @Rappy 

Sky will supply these free of charge to aid Q connectivity

Yeah, unfortunately that doesn't help me at the moment,  and the only way to get one is by calling them, spent 10 minutes answering all their questions to get told that there is a 40 minute wait to speak to a human.

Hi... I've been having 💯% the same problem.

 

Called helpline but after waiting for over 30 mins No response & line is disconnected.
