Re: GB News censored

Engineer called said I need a new cable the horizontal or maybe the vertical signal was not working. This GB News was either on the vertical or maybe the horizontal wire so that is why I cannot get it all my with Sports channels. Sounded reasonable but why didn't he replace the cable? Admitting this was his last job today SUNDAY and possibly didn't want to get up the ladder!!!!

what was the point in arguing he had made his mind up before he arrived 1 hour before his shift ended. So still no GB News and still no Sky sports!!!!

hi @Hammerhead19

Yes - if there is a problem with one cable then you loose approx half the channels  as each cable carries the different polarised channels - GB News is on a Horizontally polarised transponder

If he didn't  inspect both ends it is possible it is just a faulty connection rather than a cable problem itself.

We cannot explain why he did not sort it for you - what did he say regarding another visit ?

Unless the dish is especially high (needing the "special heights team" it used to be called, no idea if things are still the same) which would be flagged on your account to avoid a wasted journey, then I was under the impression that those "engineer" visits are supposed to be "fix everything" visits. Including but not limited to: realign dish, replace LNB, replace cable, new dish if required, etc.

Re: GB News censored

I spent 26 minutes on the phone to SKY customer services, then another 22 minutes waiting for a second support person who was experiencing issues with the booking system. Very nice man but difficult to understand! Maybe trying to watch the F1 in the pub and have a conversation with support not ideal! However, after another 10 minutes and by now Hamilton was in the pits having his tyres changed. Not a good pit stop as he ran over one of his pit crew!

When support finally managed to get his system up and running he apologised for the delay and said he had the 22nd the 23rd and the 24th available But he could not confirm as he was still experiencing issues with the system. Said he would ring me on the 20th between 3pm and 4pm to confirm my new engineer call-out. I await with anticipation!
