Some channels include this @Peter+f+a .

There is no option to remove it.

You need to check all showings of the program to see which ones include sign language.

There is an Option in Settings - Accessibility where you can highlight programs with sign language in the TV Guide.   One way of avoiding them.

WHY SKY?  This is so ridiculous.  What is the .00000% of people who require this yet 99.9999999% are forced to have this pop up and can't get rid of it!

The way we got rid of it was delete the version we had downloaded and redownload the programme.  It seems to work.

SKY SORT THIS OUT.  What a saga!

@Janie
It's infuriating to have a sign language person pop up when you haven't requested it.

You should know that I myself have a hearing problem, but that is easily solved by calling up the excellent subtitle feature.  That's all those with hearing problems need.

so Sky:  get rid of the obtrusive and very annoying sign language person.  Thank you.

It's not Sky.

Sounds like you originally selected the signed version to download. Nothing to sort  out. Just download the unsigned version.

Absolutely not true!!!

When we select a daytime program without signing to record and we get a later signed version it is NOT our fault. It is Sky selecting a signed later repeat that's at fault even when only the one program was selected to record at that time.

SKY, DON'T BLAME US!  FIX IT!!!

@Laurie+Wright I'm guessing this is when you download a programme from catchp/ondemadth at was a BBC or ITV programme ?

If so this is not a Sky problem as its the BBC and ITV that supply the assets to Sky. You will need to contact viewr relations at viewerR@sky.uk let them know and they can contact the correct channel.

BBC are partucularly bad at mixing up the signed and non signed programmes

I suspect the channel providing the meta data is to blame rather than Sky.

Horray! A sensible answer at last, rather than blaming the problem on us.

Thank you.

Re: Q box recordings have deaf signings when not requested

We too have this issue. People should have to actively "opt in" for signed programmes. It really spoils our enjoyment of our recordings when the signer is on the screen.

Re: Q box recordings have deaf signings when not requested

Reading this thread while being frustrated that my Dr Who recordings I've just downloaded are being signed. I agree that it's probably due to the BBC version being available to Sky. I've just got round it by watching the episode directly from BBC iPlayer so I'm happy now  👍

Re: Q box recordings have deaf signings when not requested

Totally agree - had the same problem tonight and does not let me get rid of it. As much as im sensitive to people with hearing issues you should not be defaulting people to a minority version. I did both voice control and search and this is the version it provides. SORT IT OUT
