Hi Everyone.
I am trying to find what is probably an impossible solution. We have a relative with quite advanced dementia to the extent where they can not manage to even change the channel using their remote.
I could bore you with how we got to that point but they shut us out for many years and got themself sectioned for a number of months. We believe that they did not even turn the Sky Q box on for 2 years.
Now they are home and medicated, they want to start watching Sky Sports again. The problem is they can not manage the remote and someone has to physically go to their home if they simply want the channel changed. So we are looking for ideas.
They do not have Internet (so voice control is a nogo - although a test using my phone as a hotspot found that the remote could not recognise them anyway)
[The only reason they have Sky Q is because it's warden monitor flats using a communal dish - apparently a Sky Plus box another relative could swap out to make things easier would not work]
So I am trying to find a solution. Looking through the threads and Googling things I did see that there is a big button seniors remote from AlzProducts. Question: If I set up a list of favourite channels, when the box powers on is there away just to load straight into the first favourite channel (or last watched favourite channel)?
My second thought process was whethere there is a compatible remote that I can pre-program selected channels onto a one touch. For example a pad of 10 buttons that I can program Sky Sports Football's channel onto it and one press will bring up Sky Sports Football. I know it is going to be a third party product.
Any advice is welcome. Unfortunaly I am no longer a Sky customer myself, so my knowledge of the product range and programming is limited.

You will need to hit the dismiss key on the Sky Q remote to bring up a live TV channel.
Looking at the third party remote faq, it looks to make it easy by changing channel up/down and volume up/down.
Fine when you are on a live tv channel, as above.
So this gets some more traction, I will move this post to the Sky Q section on the community.
Perhaps some others have some ideas on other third party remotes that may help.
There is a Sky Q accessibility (basically the older Sky+ remote in look) remote that is available, but you will have to decide if that helps at all.

Unfortunately SKY deliberately have set to always start with the home page

I am not aware of any codes to set remotes to work with SKY Q
If you can get a learning remote then you can set the SKY Q remote to be Infrared Only (by pressing & holding 4 & 6 together) & thus get the learning remote to learn th codes you want although I suspect any such remote may not have buttons for some functions meaning you may have to be 'creative' in deciding which buttons to use and may not be too easy to explain
