Re: Poor sky signal
That isn't something Sky will deal with, although it might suggest a dish alignment issue which is within their remit.
An independent satellite dish installer or a competent handyperson could fit either purpose-built or DIY bird deterrence: this is usually some form of plastic 'spike' arrangement.

@Tony4 There isn't much Sky can do about nature, you could put some cable ties pointing upwards to stop the birds nesting on the arm

Sky won't go that high anyway. They won't go on roofs either. That might be an issue if you ever need dish maintenance.

Re: Poor sky signal
Suspect the fact it's on the roof is why birds are landing on it though I'm sure there's a good reason why it's up there.

I suggest you need to employ an independant satellite dish installer to come out (Sky won't work on a dish that high). An alternative to cable ties could be covering the whole dish & arm in a plastic pond net, this should not interfere with the signal; but the dish installer should be able too advise the best solution for your setup, the cost of which will be down to you.
