Old problem. Any new ideas?

I have been reading previous discussions on my SkyQ problem and realise it goes back several years and even Sky don't come out anymore.

I turned on my tv this morning and even though the thumbnails were in the recordings I couldn't get any access to play any of them. Live tv was fine. I unplugged for the count of 10 but when plugged back in still the same. All settings look okay. So made a cup of tea.

I tried again but this time left it unplugged for 10 mins. When turned back on I had a blue screen and 'No Hard Disk' There is a problem with your hard disk drive. Try restarting........... I am sure you all know the rest and it also gave me a QR code for help. This led to a way of resetting the hard drive but I will lose all my recordings.

There we have the old problem that has been the same for years. I have built up loads of films and programmes and a lot I haven't been able to purchase so I am going to lose permanently. Surely there must be a new ways around this old problem. I nearly got Glass but I would lose everything, technology isn't supposed to be like this especially when it's costing me so much every month.

Can someone please help me?

The new technology (Glass/Stream) doesn't have permanent* retention either: no matter what any of us are paying in our Sky television subscriptions it isn't purchasing the content we're consuming.

*Actually rather less than Q because 'cloud recording' (which it isn't really) has a very finite time limit.

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

hi @PigginBlue

Sorry but if the hard disk is falling there is no way to keep the content.

Even if other technologies are cloud based, this is not available for SKY Q recordings

there is not & never has been anyway to archive or transfer recordings from SKY Q and if the box or drive need replacing all recordings are lost (It was never intended for long term storage, even if many of us, may store recordings for a long time)

Any bought titles can be re-downloaded after a reset or after to a replacement & other titles may possible be availble via on demand or catch up

@PigginBlue The problem that the hard drive is not intendeed to be for permanent storge its intended for time shifting ie recording watching then deleting. Any purchases you have made from the Sky store can be downloaded again from the Sky store so you wont lose them Anything you have recorded or downloaded you would need to find again on catup or ondemand

Hi guys,

I would like to pass on my thanks to each of you for answering my questions in my post. They obviously weren't the exact answers I really wanted if I am honest but I am very grateful for your time and input.
