No connection available to digital- only to HDMI 1 / ARC

With Sky+HD we could  select Digital from the list of inputs, giving sccess to all standard apps. We had access to the Sky system with the old remote control. We also had access to a Humax  freesat player/recorder through HDMI2, and also to a  son y  dvd player. With Sky Q we only have access to HDMI 1 / ARC through the new remote control. Is this correct, or has the installation failed on some way?

hi @MurrayMR

If the remote is paired OK with your TV then using the top right button  (Looks a little like an old styleTV Screen  with an arrow pointing in from the left) should cycle through the different inputs on your TV - it will depend on your TV as to what those input selections may be

And you can always just cycle through them with the TV's remote.

Sounds like "digital" is some kind of combination of freeview and the internal apps.

A Q remote doesn't necessarily permit input switching on all makes/models of television: on the next generation remote for Glass/Stream that feature (and its button) has been entirely removed because it's become too inconsistent.

Re: No connection available to digital- only to HDMI 1 / ARC

yesterday i found out what all the buttons do on the Sky Q remote control. So I took control away from Sky Q and checked all the data available to me on the system, network and customer support. I realised that Sky Q has got the TV aerial connection, and what we need to be able to access the TV again is to have an aerila splitter installed with  the connection to the TV available again.

Hi @MurrayMR

Afraid there is not any terrestrial aerial RF connection on Q boxes.   Only the Satellite inputs.

This poses another! If there is no terrestrial aerial on SkyQ wby does the TV report 'no connection'?  Yesterday I used the Home button on the Sony Bravia remote control to check system, network coonection. All was OK except for HDM 1 / ARC

hi @MurrayMR

Terestrial Aerial connections are separate to HDMI Conections although when you cycle through inputs TVs usually cycle through the Terrestrial TV Tuner, each HDMI input & any others the tV may Have

Most TVs have more than one HDMI connection but usually only have one labelled ARC (the ARC one  being the one used for Sound to be sent to a Sound Bar or AV amplifier).

Thus normally SKY Q boxes are not connected to ARC labelled HDMI  - so are you able to advise if SKY Q is connected to HDMI 1 that you say is reporting no connection. or is it connected to a different HDMI port ?

If your SKY Q box is not switched on then that input will show 'No Connection'

Re: No connection available to digital- only to HDMI 1 / ARC

Youare absolutely correct! An engineer has made a change to the way in which the TV signal is split between the set downstairs and the one upstairs, thereby giving thevsignal back to both.
