I watch many series of programs and have the 'series link' activated. Every episode in that series will record, which is as expected. But whenever the second series starts, whether it is a few months later or a year later, my Sky Q box doesn't record that new series!
If I am unaware that a new series is available to watch/record I miss out - all because my Sky Q box doesn't have intelligence to record the new series, something my old standard Sky box did have! Not sure if I can fix this my end?

Hi @Nath6
Sky Q does have Smart link and new seasons of shows should record..
However this does depend on the Host broadcaster setting the right metadata in the program.

@oldfella Thanks so much for your answer. It would seem the Host Briadcaster for all programs I watch are not setting the right metadata 🤦♂️ the channels vary from BBC, ITV, Comedy Central etc

I having the same issue with every program I record so it is not an isolated incident as the people at the source will try to convince you. This needs sorting out as the old sky plus had no issue with doing this.

I'm having the same issue as well. You up grade your box and get a poorer service. Surely there is something that can be done about it..
I've missed loads from all channels..

This is all so annoying. I've missed series that would automatically be recorded when new seasons start. It is very poor thst Sky Q doesn't have this option.
I don't find Sky Q as user friendly at all either. Sky + was brilliant in comparison.

Sky Q does have this feature, although like on Sky+ it's not 100% reliable.
However, if you've only recently swapped systems, your Sky Q Box won't know the series you watch as the data was stored on your Sky+HD Box.

If you go into the Geektown website and search for any programme you're interested in you can sign up for free emails that provide information on first airings in the UK which arrive about 7-10 days before it first airs.

True and understandable, but I've had it for well over a year now and no new series I've watched in that time have automatically recorded and I also cannot check if they're going to as there doesn't seem to be a tab as Sky + had to show repeat series.

We've been a Sky Q customer since it was available and a HD customer before that.
Our personal experience is that the "smart series link" across seasons/series doesn't appear as reliable as on the HD box, although you'd assume the behind the scenes logic is/was the same.
One thing is that the Q box tends to be later at adding series compared to the HD box. I think the HD box added them the moment the entry appeared on the TV guide where as the Q box adds them only a day or 2 before.
TBH. We've got into the habit of going through the "New Series" section (TV Guide -> New Series) every so often, this is generally pretty good.

Thanks...brilliant idea. I'll check the new series guide regularly. Sometimes though I don't remember the name as it's been so long since the first series!
HD was brilliant as you didn't need to check if something was coming up.
I recently missed the new Grace series starting and had to watch the first one on the ITV app which isn't the best.

Was that not available on catch up

I've still not got my head around all things available on Sky Q and I did have a quick look there but never realised there was more on there than I thought. Yes it is on there. Doh!
Thanks for that! I'll know where to look in future!
