New Remote

I have new remote sky Q box light is green TV won't turn on

Hi @BM02   Make sure HDMI control is on, on both the TV and Sky Q box. Have you paired the remote to your TV?

Hi I have pressed number1 and 3 together on the remote after disabling the old one. The sky box became active with green light but TV won't turn on and has no button anywhere😬

Hi @BM02   If you have successfully paired the remote to your TV. A long press (about 2 seconds), the remote LED will flash and toggle the power on the TV. You may have to turn on your TV and place it on the correct HDMI input first before pairing with the TV remote.

A long press of which button On/off?

Ive done that no joy. Now the mini box upstairs has gone off!

Hi, As I said I can't turn my telly on,it used to come on with my sky remote but now I've got a new one it won't.... so I can't follow any on screen instructions my sky Q box is on and green but that's it.

Use the TV's own remote to switch it on - alternatively the TV may have actual buttons on the back for power & volume (although a few don't) 

 

Once switched on you can try pairing the remote

Thank you but I don't have a separate tv remote their are no buttons on the TV so I can't get the on screen instructions to pair everything up. My old sky remote used to turn the tv on.

Do double check the TV - I know some TVs do not have button but many do but are well concealed

 

Failing that you may have to hunt on ebay or similar to get a replacement remote for your TV - as you have found out, you cannot rely on the SKY remote to control the TV.

SKY remotes only have limited functionality for TVs (power, volume & source) and cannot access any TV's own menus etc

Hi @BM02   The Sky Q Remote power button (once you have successfully paired it). No body can help you without a TV remote to control the TV. Your old remote was paired, that's the reason why it worked. Buy a new TV remote.

Hi @BM02   I take it you have tried a power cycle of both the Sky Q box and the TV. A power cycle is turning them off at the mains plug, wait at least 30 seconds and switch them back on. Turn on the TV first, followed by the Sky Q box once the TV is fully up and running. Then see if bringing the Sky Q box out of Standby turns the TV on.

Thank you for all your efforts to get me back up and running with my TV. I have tried the resets etc.... spent 45 mins on phone with Sky Tech Support.... nothing!

Frustrating day.... watched TV in morning new remote arrives and  zilch from then on, neither old or new remote would turn on TV . May need to upgrade TV😏

You need a remote for the TV. You can't rely on a sky one because as you found out, if they are not paired with the TV, you need to at least see the screen in order to go through that setup process.

 

What model TV is it?
