SKY Q has limited functionality without an internet connection.
Your lack of red button would not be helped by moving to SKY Q as the move of the red button functionality is to use the internet
BTW the lack of Software updates on SKY+/HD will not give any problems with normal Satellite use
You may, also, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

Sky will (reluctantly) install a main Q box at an address without internet access: as @nigea99 indicates this will be limited to live television reception through the dish, plus recording & playback of live channel content.
On-demand, streaming and other on-board apps, catch-up, watch from start and games won't work, so a substantial part of the subscription is effectively wasted that way.
They won't offer Q Mini boxes because those need an internet router to be present.
