The cable being severed means there is no connection to the sky box

You can get an external coaxial cable connecter to re-connect the wire:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coupler-Extension-Connector-Weatherproof-RFAdapter/dp/B07WPKXQV2
And you can connect them using the first set of information here: https://www.wikihow.com/Connect-Coaxial-Cable-Connectors

Personally, I would not use them without also wrapping the whole joint in self-amalgamating tape as I think there is too much risk of water ingress along the cable
(I have used ordinary F-F connectors that way when I cut through my cable at the end of my garden)

I purposely suggested external coaxial connectors as per the Amazon link. The reviews seem to be good too to suggest they're waterproof.

I can understand that if you are attempting to join two F type connectors which have been compressed onto the coaxial cables that are to be joined then this coupler might well achieve a waterproof joint.
But, if you are attempting to join two 'Screw On' F type connectors then you would still be likely to have water ingress between the plastic outer cover of the coaxial cables and the outer of the 'Screw On' F connectors.
Personally I would carefully choose the correct size of Cablecon compression connector which had been purchased with the additional option of an inner rubber seal. The manufacturer claims that this should achieve a seal that will withstand up to 1.3 Bar water pressure, when tightened to around 2.5 Newton Metres, which is a bit more than finger tight.
Godfrey.
