Hi, I am having multiple issies with my SkyQ box. My BB speed is 500+mbps so not that.
I have the following:
- Netflix only opens to the red Netflix logo screen and the just hangs with a red spinning circle
- Often get a black screen for 5-10s or longer when changing channels
- Weirdly, been seeing more examples of picture and audio out of sync, makes everything look dubbed!
- Mega-slow when searching or browsing on demand catalogues and Sky cinema and on recordings
- Apps don't show images of the apps!
- Often no images in the Sky cinema pages when loaded up and when surfing it hangs
- Recordings or on demand often just come up with a black screen but audio is there
I've got the stage where I just watch Netflix and Prime via the TV app rather than SkyQ, and have even given up on a couple of programmes on Sky due to the performance. It feels like the hardware is near end of life. Not sure if this all common across the platform or it is just my box. We have a few recordinds I am loathed to lose! I think if I had to I may just cancel Sky.
Thanks!

Most boxes are in their senior years.
Try a Reset Settings in the Q box hidden menu. See if this gives it an improvement.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.
Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.
Resetting the settings will also reset:
Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.

Cancelling Sky subscription will cause the loss of all recordings, as will resetting the box (as @oldfella indicates) or having it replaced by Sky. The hard drive is for time-shifted viewing and downloading, not archiving, and there's never been any guarantee of content retention.
