Moving home with Sky Q

Can I take my Sky Q box to a house that has Sky connectors and presumably a dish?. We don't want to lose our recordings. I've been advised that it is possible but would like to know whether it's true or not.

However, without knowing what these 'connectors' are and what dish they are attached to no one can say...

Hi @JOHN+KETTLE 

You need to book a Home move with Sky and they then will install your existing Q box at the new location.  It may be the existing dish at the location will require the LNB on the dish changing.  The Sky Installer will sort out any issues.

You'd need to take the box with you whether or not it's usable at the new location, because it's on loan to you and you are financially responsible for its safekeeping and eventual return to Sky.

I have moved from my previous address, I have had my sky box and card stolen by the previous landlord, I think they are using my sky box and card. I now have a new address and want it set up at my new home.

(Alleged) Theft should probably be reported to the Police...

As it appears you have an active account Sky will either expected a home move or for you to return the box they loaned to you if you cancel your existing account.

Setting up a new account (if you can) at a new address will not admonish responsibility for your existing account.

I just want to set up my sky TV and internet at my new home and continue with the account I have please. I want to forget what my X landlady has done. I would presume that I would have a new sky card anyway.

I suspect that's not going to be straightforward, because by giving up safekeeping of the Q hardware and viewing card you're now in breach of your contract with Sky.

You'll almost certainly have to go through a process of advising Sky what's happened, have the Q hardware and card remotely disabled, probably pay a penalty fee for misplacing the box, and then negotiate a replacement at your new address.

For broadband, you'd book a Home Move from Sky: did you retain possession of the Sky Hub?

There's obviously a back story here - but it doesn't change override the contract you agreed with Sky.  You can't just 'get rid of it'.

Note that if this is the case and you haven't changed the PIN code then they can rent or purchase content and book PPV events for which you are financially liable.

I was unlawfully evicted out of my previous property, I have paid almost 2 years for sky Tv and internet. I have also been made aware that the storage where my belongings were kept have lost or miss placed my sky box and viewing card. Not my landlord. I assume I will be refunded 2 years of payments. I will set up a new account if that's nessasary and then no longer be a platinum member.

By who?  If Sky has been supplying service(s) to the address with your name on the contract then you are responsible for paying, even if that service wasn't actually in use by anyone there.

Quite - there will be no refund.  It should have be dealt with much sooner.

@Andrew197 as per @PandJ2020 original post if your Box and card have been misplaced or are being used by someone else that won't return the box you need to contact the police to get a crime report they may be able to get the box and card back from you. 

If you have not reported this earlier to Sky or the police then why do you think you are entitled to a refund for the last 2 years ?
