Sky q and mini box setup

Just connected my sky q and 3 mini boxes to new fibre network which used eero 6 hubs. All units work perfectly until I try to use 2 Mini boxes at the same time. When the second is switched on the two units struggle for signal and eventually report no satellite signal. Anyone help please?

Mini boxes won't stay connected with non-Sky mesh nodes over WiFi.  It's possible to have them on ethernet cable from nodes, with the Sky WiFi switched off.

1) Press the ‘Home’ button on your remote control.
2) Scroll down to highlight ‘Settings’ but DO NOTpress select.
3) Press ‘001’.
4) Press ‘Select’

Then: Network -

- 2.4Ghz wireless - Off

- 5Ghz wireless - Off

@TimmyBGood

Thanks for your help - just for absolute clarity the onky way to get this set up to work is to "hard wire" the mini boxes to the nodes with ethernet cables? Can the main Sky Q box remain connected via wifi or does that also need to be hard wired? Seems strange that all the Moni boxes work fine independantly but only suffer connection issues when 2 or more are swithched on. Sorry for so many questions - I really appreciate you help and advice.

Hi @Reggie-boy

For total reliability all Q boxes when using Ethernet (on 3rd party Broadband) need to be connected by the same method to to the same devices.  Therefore all your  Q boxes need to be connected by Ethernet to the mesh nodes.

When all boxes are connected by Ethernet you can then switch off all Q box WiFi.

Start with main Q box and first carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected.
Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router (or Sky router if on Sky Broadband). Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.
As soon as it connects immediately go into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi.

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Repeat the network reset on any minis in the Mini Home menu with the Ethernet connected. Again do not do any WPS and just wait for it to connect.
Once it is connected go immediate into the mini hidden menu (same procedure as above) and turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Hi all,

I am reading this with interest. I have recently switched to you fibre with an eero and have 2 additional eeros to extend my network coverage. I am having intermittent issues and trying to find a solution. The main sky q box is connected via Ethernet to a tp link extender and seems to work fine, it is the mini boxes I am having issue with. I have 2 of the mini boxes connected via Ethernet into an eero router and as they kept trying to connect via WiFi I have disabled both  2.4 & 5ghz only this morning. I have one other mini which still communicates via WiFi. I did this first thing this morning and so far all boxes seem to be working quickly and without issue.

one thing I cannot get my head around is that the boxes that are hard wired now show the network name as a sky network with random SSIDs. Can anyone give me their thoughts on why this is happening?

hopefully it remains stable and that is the main thing, but it is making me wonder if they are truly connecting to the eero network.

ps, when I check on the eero app the 3 hard wired boxes are showing connected via Ethernet
