Re: Mini box constantly disconnecting

Glad it's not just me having this issue.

So frustrating.

Is there any one from sky lurking in these forums that would care to comment?

Re: Mini box constantly disconnecting

So... I have an update.

I noticed that my main Sky Q box had stuttering playback when recording live TV. So I ordered a replacement main Sky Q box on the basis that there was a problem with the hard drive.

I have had the replacement for a week now and the connection between the replacement main box and Sky Q mini-box has not dropped once.

Fingers crossed but this seems to be a problem with the hardware in the main Sky Q box which seems to have been solved with a replacement. SKY MUST KNOW ABOUT THIS!!!

Re: Mini box constantly disconnecting

Having this issue where the sky mini works for a while then disconnects from main sky q box. I,ve tried resetting etc but nothing seems to work. Is anyone from sky able to offer a permanent solution.

Re: Mini box constantly disconnecting

When multroom box gets plugged out it loses connection and bluescreens when powered back on. I have to reconnect it from the network settings of the main Sky Q box and reboot the multroom box to get it back. Is this normal?.

Re: Mini box constantly disconnecting

Yes it's normal. Had that many issues with my mini box I've now got rid of it as SKY were no help in resolving.

Re: Mini box constantly disconnecting

I'm also having the same problem. Was having it when on sky broadband, switched to a different provider at the end of December, and all was well for a while, but the last couple of weeks is been utterly dreadful. We have the main box in the lounge, mini in the dining room and mini in the extension bedroom. The one in the bedroom is now continually losing its connection back to the main box.

It's utterly unusable.

Re: Mini box constantly disconnecting

You might need network plugs to improve signal in the bedroom.

Rebooting the router weekly may help too.

Re: Mini box constantly disconnecting

Just say that your main box isn't working. I had a year of problems with my mini-box and it turned out that it was the main box. As soon as I got a new main box all the problemas were solved.

Re: Mini box constantly disconnecting

Press Home/Recordings/Manage and it is in there.
You can restore or permantly delete the recordings.
Since manually purging regularly (one a month), I have had no problems.

It is also worth noting that I am connected via ethernet to my two mini-boxes (1 downstairs/1 upstairs) via powerline ethernet adaptors  (TP-Link TL-WPA4220 TKIT 2-Port Powerline Adapter WiFi Starter Kit, Range Extender, Broadband/WiFi Ex... ) and have turned off the wireless connection on all of my boxes by going into the Engineer's menu on each box (including the main SkyQ box) by pressing: Home, scrolling down to Settings (DO NOT PRESS SELECT AT THIS POINT) , then press 101  and then  Select and turn off all wireless connections.

Save and exit the Engineer's menu and then unplug your box.

DO NOT PLUG THEM BACK IN YET!

Once you have done this to all of your boxes, plug in the main SkyQ box first and once that has fully restarted and you can confirm that it has an internet connection, plug in your mini-boxes (if you are using Powerline adaptors, make sure that they are connected to your network first and that your mini-box is connected via ethernet to one of these adaptors) and you should be good to.

It worked with my setup.

Fingers crossed that it stays that way!

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Re: Mini box constantly disconnecting

My problem has been largely resolved by;

1. Putting another mini box an upstairs room nearer to the main box.

2. Getting sky to install a booster, which appears to run on its own network between the boxes.
