ITVX problem with standby mode

Why after watching a programme on the App ITVx, my television will not go on standby when I switch off. No matter how long I press the standby button the television keeps coming back on. The only way to resolve it is to switch off at the mains plug, then switch back on. I do not have this problem when watching Netflix

@PaulaeddieI have never had that. Have you tried exiting ITVX by pressing the home button and when it is on normal TV then turning it to standby.

Yes several times, I've gone back to normal sky channels, ITV, BBC. But the television will not switch off with the standby button, which i use everyday  to switch it off. So confusing
