I have had no signal because of scaffolding but have been able to use recordings, catch up and apps.
Now all of a sudden I can't and am getting a "To use this service, you need a satellite signal."
What has changed?

Not sure how to progress it, apart from gettting your signal back, whcih may not be possible for you yet.
Perhaps call Sky to see if they can help.

If you don't have Satellite signal, you get a 2-4 Week grace period before the box locks itself completely until you re-gain a satellite signal.
You can look into getting the dish moved onto the scaffolding temporarily if its going to be there for a while longer.

Find out more@RS-PPossibly you could used "Sky Go" and use a laptop and a HDMI lead to connect them so you could watch TV etc. If Sky Go also links to your Q box you may also be able to watch your recordings. I have not tried this in the box has no satelite signal.

It will not work for recordings, as the card becomes locked and as expected for most channels in the Sky go Q box connected mode, if you have no satellite connection.
Some channels like the Sky Sports ones though (even in Sky Go Q box connected mode), now only stream from the internet

I have the exact same issue. Scaffolding next door blocked our satellite signal (still blocking). I could still use the apps. Now it says you need satellite signal to use the apps. Have switched everthing off, left it 10min and then switched everything back on again to reboot. Still the same message and issue.
I got around it by using the voice command on the side of the sky remote. Just say the app you want and it loads up. So I don't know why it says it needs a satellite signal. It doesn't.
