I have been sent a new router and want some help

Hi I have a new router you sent as I took out a new contract. But the old one is working fine and before I disconnect it I want some advice. I have a booster box upstairs for the bedroom but haven't been sent a new one. How will the booster box connect with the new router? I don't have anyone technical about and am loathe to disconnect the old router when all is working.
