Had a disasterous journey this week trying to get a Sky Q box to work, have been passed pillar to post, department to department with no resolution in sight. Engineers are apparently being booked weeks in advance and I was to consider myself lucky that I might only have to wait 2-3 weeks! Mini box is a small lump of useless components as it doesnt work at all and the Q box has to be reset time and time again, only live TV can be watched not able to access recordings or paid for movies and cant pause or download.
Have been a sky TV customer for 30 years - cancelled TV subscription - broadband and phone to follow once I have replacement organised.
Anyone else had similar experinces?

Hi @Tech+Visit
If your main box Hard drive has failed mini boxes will completely cease to function.
Work through the following link
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-q-hard-disk-error-messages
If you have to order a new Q box this usually means a doorstep swap.
Don’t forget to keep your viewing card from the failed box if you order a replacement.
Also if the box you are replacing is a 2TB there are two versions of power supply. One has a standard C7 (figure of eight) power lead socket in the back of the Q box. The other has a separate power supply. Although this still has the C7 power lead into the power supply there is a multi pin Din power socket in the Q box for connecting the power supply. Make sure that the replacement box has the power supply included if the Q box has the orange coded multi pin din socket in the back of the Q box. See below.

was offered a replacement box likely to take over 5 days to arrive from DPD who can deliver all my other parcels next day !
Decided best to just cancel as who wants to be with a company that doesnt appreciate customer loyalty and wont offer support to keep you as a valued customer
Every department I spoke to had no clue what I wanted or needed, noone could offer a resolution they just passed me off onto another person which only irks me further and they wanted me to give them notice of 31 days - pay for a system that isnt fit for purpose not likely
Sounds like they have too few engineers, a product that is having a failure rate well above expected and noone is looking at the big picture - not how to run a successful comany

Hi @Tech+Visit As you have discovered, they are looking at the big picture and phasing out Sky satellite.

So in order for the phase out of satellite they make it impossible to get older systems fixed in a timeous manner so you are forced to procure more modern systems - seems unfair practice

Sky has been the sole provider of subscription satellite television in the UK since that was a thing: all associated decisions are to some extent 'unfair', but none the less still legal.
