Free 4 week Sky Sports offer question
Hello all. I've been sent an email from Sky offering me Sky Sports free for 4 weeks (£20 after free trial for 12 months). It says you need to give 31 days notice to cancel. If I take the free offer but cancel straight away will I still get it free for 4 weeks or do they switch the channels off straightaway?
On this note I had a similar offer in the past for Sky Cinema but on that occasion I cancelled on the day before it was due to end but the advisor said I needed to give 31 days notice started so I had to pay for the next month. Of course this made no sense as 4 weeks is less than 31 days so I couldn't have given 31 days notice anyway. I agused the point for ages but was still charged which I didn't think was correct, by that stage I had been on the phone so long I had given up. So what is the deal with these offers exactly? Thank you.

Re: Free 4 week Sky Sports offer question
Billing is daily pro-rata - so the point about 28/31 days means you would only be charged for 3 days at most if you give notice immediately - not a full month.
In theory the channel should stay active during the notice period. (There have been reports on the forum of cancelling earlier)

Re: Free 4 week Sky Sports offer question
So the free trial isn't free then if they charge you for three days extra? Surely that can't be right, wouldn't they have to make that clear when you sign up for the free trial?

I have the same deal currently. What did you do in the end (cancel immediately?). Did you still have access for the 4 weeks?

Re: Free 4 week Sky Sports offer question
Fair enough. The cancellation (as well as it not including Sky Sports +) is putting me off. Cheers for reply

Re: Free 4 week Sky Sports offer question
I have just been caught out with this. I've never signed up to anything extra as I don't trust sky. I signed up to 4 weeks, tried to cancel and they told me it was an 8 week trial and I had to give 31 days notice, so I owed them money. Still fighting it. Think I'll be jumping ship to Virgin as we get a good deal though O2. Been with sky about 15 years, my bills for just broadband and tv are higher than others that have Disney, sports etc. Joke!

@Louise975 Yes they are sneaky and the problem is you just get passed from one advisor to another when you complain, it takes so long to get anywhere. I'm cancelling when my contract ends which is soon, the prices are getting out of hand.

Re: Free 4 week Sky Sports offer question
The advisor I originally spoke to said they would cancel all charges, then I received an email confirmation with the charges still on. I've now emailed, but the 3 replies I've had are pointless. I knew it was a 4 week trial, they had me doubting myself! Ripping off loyal customers seems to be their thing. I've screenshotted this original post and sent it to them, to prove I'm not losing my mind! lol!
