The fast forward / rewind function keeps stuttering. Fast forward seems to jump forward but then back again, impossible to use. Tried shutting down and restarting, it works properly for 5 minutes then goes all funky again. Any ideas? There also seems to be a delay in the fast forward / rewind function. The second sky boxes are working fine, just the main skyq box that seems to be struggling.

Try completly resetting your Bluetooth remote.
Press and hold 7 & 9 together on the remote until it’s led flashes four times.
Then make sure that you are pointing your remote at the Q box and press 1 & 3 together until the led flashes and follow onscreen instructions to re- pair.
Failing this
Try a Reset Settings in the Q box hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote again If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.
Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.
Resetting the settings will also reset:
Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.

I'm having exactly this same issue... I'm also finding that when I change channel the screen stays black for 4/5 seconds before changing.
I've tried resetting the remote but no joy. We have two remotes for the main box and the issue is the same regardless of which one we use.
it's infuriating, any help would be gratefully received.

Have you tried the Reset settings in the Q box hidden menu?

My Q box has developed this same issue recently. I've tried the reset, which seemed to fix the problem for about 5 mins, then the problem returned. Has anyone found a fix for this as the box is basically unusable.

Further to previous post, a number of recordings are showing as 'failed software fault'. When you try to view you just get a black screen. Also, it has now decided my tv does not support UHD, which it DEFINITELY does, and I was watching UHD recordings and transmissions through the Sky box yesterday, and via the Amazon Firestick!
it seems an update has been sent to the Sky box which has failed and introduced a corruption to the Q box.

Annoyingly I am having the same issue as all of you. Only been the last couple of days but very annoying. I have tried reboot, hidden reset, re-pairing my remote and rebooting my router but nothing has worked. Could this be an update or something?

A sky engineer came out and took a look and couldn't find any rhyme or reason why this was happening. I only had 42% memory used with programmes/films saved so that wasn't an issue and broadband speeds were more than sufficient at 56+mb. The engineer ended up replacing my SkyQ box and thankfully that solved the problem, haven't had any problems since.

My sky box has started to do the same. Jumping on rewind and fastforward and a very delayed play. Is there any other advise on how to fix.

Hi, we have all the problems listed above, can't fast forward, black screen when switching over, sometimes won't play at all and occasional pixelation. Becoming unwatchable really. Tried all the usual fixes and only have 25% used disk space. Has anyone found a fix other than an engineer swap out? If we go for that I'm guessing we lose all our recordings...

Oh we get the failed recording software fault too!

I genuinely haven't had any further issues since the engineer changed my skyQbox back in October last year, unfortunately you will lose all of your recordings, but this did fix the issue for me.

We are now having this same problem, and Sky are absolutely no help at all. We've only had Sky Q since last October,with nothing but bother.
