I have been experiencing this issue the last few days: every time I switch my Sky Q on from standby, the sound output has reset to normal (stereo PCM). I normally have it on the Dolby Digital Plus setting.
My Sky Q is a 1TB box originally connected with the supplied HDMI cable to my Denon AVRX2200W receiver. The receiver is then connected to a Philips 65OLED706 TV with a Kabeldirekt 2m HDMI 2.1 cable. CEC is enabled on all devices. ARC is enabled on the receiver and TV using the appropriate ports.
My speaker setup is 5.1. I also have a Panasonic 4K Blu-ray player connected to the receiver.
I have replaced the HDMI cable from the Sky Q to the receiver with a HDMI 2.1 cable. Then I disconnected the Blu-ray player, connected the Sky Q directly to the TV and I have tried resetting the Sky Q settings all to no avail. I do not currently have another AV receiver or TV I can use to test if it's not a fault with the Sky Q.
Does anybody have an ideas what else I can try or do I need to reset the Sky Q to factory settings?

Factory reset is a bit of an overkill I would think.
Try a Reset Settings first in the Q box hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.
Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.
Resetting the settings will also reset:
Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.

Thanks @oldfella I did reset settings already. Sorry I did not make it very clear in my original post.

Did you get a fix for this? When I press home on my touch remote, the sound output changes to internal TV. When I have Dolby turned on, certain channels have sound but no speech. This is a new issue today, I have had this setup since the launch of Sky Q!

@Romy2907 It resolved on its own a while back. I assume it was a firmware update.
