DVD to Tv link

I have an "old" DVD player which I am trying to connect to my new Samsung TV,  with a Sky Q system. I have fitted a Scartt to HDMI converter, powered by a USB cable. My DVD player is running but the content is not being picked up by the TV. Any ideas.?

hi @BLACKBURNSL

I presume you are making sure that you are selecting the correct HDMI on your TV

Other than posting here on the SKY board is there any reason for the mention of SKY Q ?

Are you sure it is a Scart to HDMI converter and not an HDMI to Scart converter  - I am not too sure if they are all 2 way so need to make sure the signals are going in the correct direction if not 2 way.

Can you give us a reference or link to info on the Scart to HDMI converter ?

@BLACKBURNSLGood luck, some of these converters work some don't. Also where are you getting the USB power from, some USB sockets are low power and may not be enough for the converter.

You will probably have to switch your TV to the correct input as I doubt whether HDMI control (CEC) will work with this set up.

Post the exact make and model of the converter someone here may have one and be able to help.

Thanks to Nigea and Bob for their replies.  My converter is Scart to HDMI (  uhddadi from Amazon at about £14). On the TV screen , I bring up Sources and HDMI has a tick on it . It also pulses in and out , but if I try to select , nothing happens.

@BLACKBURNSLI don't know that one but this one worked for me (unfortunately out of stock) HDMI to SCART .

Also looking at yours have you tried lowering the resolution if your DVD does not output 1080p then unlike my converter yours may not upscale and you need to set the resolution (slide switch) to 720p

Thanks, no obvious reasons - although as @bob1234 asks - where are you connecting the USB cable to for it's power ?

hi @BLACKBURNSL

A further thought, I think it is  extremely unlikely but double check that the DVD player doesn't have a switch set to output RGB rather than composite video

(edit or even S-Video - although I think that would probably give a B&W video signal)
