Hi all.
I currently have a LG C1 and LG SP2 soundbar. Now, when watching anything else (Disney plus & Netflix via the inbuilt tv apps) I have no issues whatsoever. I have had the soundbar now for around 2/3month, again no issues at all.
Recently however, when watching anything with Sky, my sound bar keeps switching off my tv, which results in the audio being played through the tv speakers, before returning to normal. (Watch sports like boxing, as you can imagine is very annoying).
I have always had the soundbar set to (pass through) recently I've swapped it to auto and awaiting to see if this happens again.
My question really is, has anybody else had this issue? Also, I have the soundbar plugged into to the eARC hdmi port. The Sky one is plugged into a desperate hdmi port. I hope I'm not being daft in asking, the Sky hdmi doesn't need directly plugging into the soundbar rather than the TV?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 🙏

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreShould work either way so worth trying as long as the soundbar allows a UHD connection. I'd have thought the passthrough option is only relevant if you have the source (Sky box) connected to the soundbar.

hi @elthompo27
I don't have any specific knowldge of your TV and sound bar
Routing wise it shouldn't make much difference if you route SKy Q to your TV & rely on the ARV signal to your sound bar or plug your SKy Q direcetly into the Sound bar
Note, however, I said shouldn't - some people routing SKY Q through TVs have, however, sometimes reported Sound Synch issues so to reduce the chance I usually recommend routing SKY Q to the Sound Bar (or AV equipment) if they are capable of passing through the 4K/HDR
You mention that your Sound bar is switching off the TV - is that physically switching it off ?
I suspect it may not be the SOund Bar doing this just the fact the TV may not be getting any interaction from you - when using SKY you are interacting with the SKy Q box and volume wise the sound bar so TVs often think they are not in use and trigger their power saving.
If this is the case you may be able to change the automatic power off setting - alternatively you may just have to occasionally just cycle through inputs to keep it 'alive' - I use an up down of my volume but my remote is set for the TV and not my AV amp and so that interacts with the TV which yours might not if your volume is set for the sound bar

Hi, I have tried this as an expierment. UHD isn't found when you connect it directly into the soundbar.

Thanks for replying.
Yes physically switched the tv off for a split second, volume then comes through the tv. Then very quickly it switches back.
I have been through all the settings on sky and anything that mentions a stand by, I have switched it off. Recently however I changed round the hdmi (swapped the ends round) I have also altered the output from pass through to auto. Hopefully this may sort it.
My parents have exactly the same set-up as myself. They too are expierencing the same issues. 🤷🏻♂️

hi @elthompo27
Yes older (& some cheaper) Soundbars/AV Amps can't pass through 4K/HDR sihgnals in which case best to route via the TV and rely on the ARC connection ftom the TV to sound bar
