I have tried a few times to set this free offer up but get stuck at the 'Add a PaymentMethod' the button to continue just does not respond. I have set up an apple account received the verify code for my email but cannot input a payment. I only want to watch the TV I do not own any Apple products is this the problem?

I have got further I have now been able to enter my bank card details and authorise the payments (for future) but then it fails and just will not let me get any further - very frustrating !!

I'm having exactly the same issue- went through to payment confirmation and then stalls. Spent 2 how in with apple support- they also gave me a promo code and said to try it but so far nowhere to put it in.

I got it to work! I had to use the 6 month code that apple support gave me- log in to your apple account online - select apple tv+ then stream now. Under your account setting (the person avatar top right) you can redeem a promotional code- I had to do it twice and on the second time (first time it verified my card details) it worked. Such a needless faf!
This about 2 hours and 4 attempts overall to work out the above and you will still need to contact apple if your sky link dead ends after everything.

I found that by going into Apple TV and entering the user name and password I originally set up (and must have verified 100 times) worked and I was then able to set up payment and then you log into the app on TV and scan the code.

Same problems - offer shows as 'Redeemed' in My Sky app - went through all the billing / bank approval steps using the apple link. Haven't received any kind of confirmation. When I go into the Apple TV app on my Smart TV (I've got Sky Q) (don't have an iPhone, use Android) it shows that I have no subscriptions and prompts me for a 7 day trial and then £8.99 a month ... Currently unable to watch more than 1 episode of any series ...

follow what I did above exactly. Apple tries to make it difficult for anyone n not using an apple product. You may have to get another code from apple support

Ok, so the problem has finally been resolved (took over 3 hours, 4 ibuprofen, 1 migraine and a case of 'Will To Live' definately having left the building!) I went through Support Chat initially (who tried to blame the problem on Sky and my devices - don't buy that twaddle!) If you have a problem then go straight to Apple Support on freephone code 107 6285. The same as another poster, I was given a new Promotional Code to use. The lady from support and I eventually got that working via iTunes on my Windows laptop (although had to go through several payment loops before it was all eventually recognised).

I was told tonight by a Sky employee that you cannnot have an Apple ID without an Apple product. She claimed it was clear in a set of terms and conditions she then sent to me (still looking at it - still can't find anything that says that) and Apple have twice deactivated an Apple ID I created and are now refusing to reactivate it.
So glad my contract with Sky is up next month as with a £24pm hike in price, they'll no longer be getting my business EVER.
Shocking customer service from both - shocking money grabbing (please insert your own expletive).

If you reread my post, the issue appear to be with both Apple and Sky, If Apple won't activate my ID how exactly am I supposed to log in to watch?

Fair comment @BlimBlim what is the reason Apple won't activate your Apple ID anybody can create an Apple ID credentials regardless if you have an apple product or not I redeemed my offer using my Samsung S8+
Same when you redeem Sky's offer it's not device specific it's just a matter of logging into your preferred device with your Apple ID

Update.
Having received a further call from Apple today, they have confirmed it is a much wider issue with Apple themselves and are investigating with urgency. For some reason, the screen does not flash up to accept their terms and conditions and when you reset everything and go through the two-stage verification, you reach a screen where there is a blue 'Continue' button. No matter how hard you hit your keyboard or click you mouse, this button does not work. As this did not happen the first time I signed up, and their employees do not get specifics as to errors, it simply showed up as 'suspicious activity'. The 'suspicious activity' was accessing a service with an Apple ID that the terms and conditions hadn't been agreed, purely because the option had not been made available due to an Apple system error and which the system did not recognise and the staff weren't told. It took a highly competent guy called Brad to go through it via a screenshare and work out that it was doing something 'weird and wrong' in his words.
