I want to know what buttons on the front of the SkyQ box do.
From right to left:
1) WFS Wifi linker ?
2) On-Off switch ?
3) No idea.....??????
4) Make the Remote bleep ( and scare the wife)
Sky gives zero info on these, and the intenet isn't any help either.

Yes the one with the light is the on / off switch. This is easily discovered experimentally. Also it's a full reboot if you hold it down long enough.
There is no button at 3, it's an IR receiver lens.
The Q button is, as documented above, to find the remote.

WPS, for 'Wi-Fi Protected Setup' .
Pressing this and the same button on an internet router links the two devices over WiFi.
Likewise, pressing this and the same button on a Q Mini box or Q booster sets up a Q mesh wireless link between the boxes.

Thanks for that, it confirms what I already knew. But what do the other buttons do? I don't think anyone knows.

Find my remote
Sick of losing your remote down the back of the sofa? So are we. That’s why our Sky Q touch remotes have a handy Find my remote feature to stop you turning your house upside down when you’ve lost it.
Press the Q button on the front of your Sky Q box and after a few seconds a paired Sky Q touch/Sky Q remote with Voice Control will beep for 30 seconds.
Once you've found it, press any button on your remote to stop the beeping.

Re: $ Buttons on the SkyQ box (not remote)
Well I don't.
We have 2 buttons confirmed, but what about the other two? My guess about button 2 is still just a guess, but button 3 is a total mystery. Maybe it does nothing at all?
1) WPS Wifi linker
2) On-Off switch ????????????
3) No idea.....??????
4) Make the Remote bleep ( and scare the wife)

Re: $ Buttons on the SkyQ box (not remote)
Thanks to those who answered by question. I now know what the 4 'objects' on the front of the SkyQ are. Not all buttons at all.
I have to say I think that Sky's documentation really sucks, that I have to find this out by asking on a forum. All it needed was an instruction manual included with the box, but we live in a society where being able to read is so rare.
I did actually ask the technician who installed it, just before Christmas, where the manual was, and he gave me a single sheet with the names of the buttons of the remote, nothing on the box at all. Considering that Sky has insisted on a 2 year contract, and charges an enourmous price for this junk (I don't use it, my wife likes it though), they could have supplied a proper manual.

No, of course not. A manual to explain the SkyQ system in total.
Comming from Sky+ after many years and plain old Sky before that we find SkyQ utterly hyper complicated in all respects, but then we don't use mobile phones much either (for the same reasons).

Poor old Steve Jobs would be turning in his grave at the idea of needing a manual for his baby.
(I find some of Apple's UI decisions utterly mystifying and some of them pure genius)
I do think the Q interface is confusing, just because there are too many ways to get to what is basically the same thing.

Having people drag the diskette icon onto the trash basket so that it ejects was always my personal favourite. So many hours trying to convince nervous first time users they wouldn't lose all their saved documents that way...
For younger readers, a diskette was like a USB stick lost an argument with a road roller.

My favourite was on early IBM PC's, if you didn't plug the keyboard in you got an error message saying "No keyboard found, press any key to continue"

Re: $ Buttons on the SkyQ box (not remote)
Dear SbScn Richard. I completely agree with you. It is completely ridiculous to give instructions telling us to press the X button and Y button but no diagram to explain which these buttons are. I have been infuriated trying to find such a diagram. A simple single sheet paper or card with such a diagram and troubleshooting instructions surely would reduce phonecalls and engineer visits. Or at least an easy to find diagram on line. I cannot understand why such a thing is not available.
