2tb sky q box

We've had our 1tb sky q box 6yrs what are my chances of getting a 2tb for free. They sold me a 2nd sky mini box without telling me our 1tb Box was only compatible with 1 at a time. Been paying £100 a month for 6yrs.

Hi @Looney+mooney

Normall all Q box upgrades are at a cost.

All you can do is try your luck with Sky.

The latest 1 TB Q boxes are also compatible with 2 minis

@Looney+mooney

Sky loaned a mini box to you. The boxes belong to Sky, The current 1TB is the standard issue box now which is capable of supporting additional mini boxes. 2TB boxes may be few and far between.

Re: 2tb sky q box

Just to clarify. I Loan one mini box but I purchased a 2nd mini box from sky and wasn't informed my 1tb couldn't run both boxes at the same time. I can't reply personally to those that have answered but with the information that the newer 1tb boxes can support 2 mini boxes I'll ring up and enquire. Thank you

No, you cannot purchase Q boxes.  It was loaned.  (It has to be returned if you cancel your subs - the charge was a non-refundable one-off admin fee)

If your main Q box only supports one concurrently - Sky will charge you around £50-100 to change it to a box that supports 2 concurrently.  (Again, the box is only loaned)

Re: 2tb sky q box

No that's incorrect. My only mini box will have to return to sky if we leave is the mini box we pay for in our multioom subscription.  When I purchased the 2nd one they informed me its my property that doesn't need to be returned (I specifically asked them) But I suppose they could of told me a lie. Thank you for your information.

Afraid that all Q boxes and minis are Sky property @Looney+mooney

As previously stated you cannot buy any  Q boxes.   Any upfront payment made is for activation under loan.

Nope - read your contract.  No one other than Sky owns Q equipment.  (And it's useless without a subscription anyway)

You have been misinformed.  (Rather than an outright 'lie')
