Sim stopped working whilst abroad

My phone was working fine when we landed on Thursday and then had stopped late Friday night. It is my sim not my phone. Now had to purchase a SIM card to use whilst out here. I cannot convert to an eSIM as it wants to send a text message to the number. Virtual assistant hasn't helped and cannot get on the live chat. Any suggestions? I need to get it fixed before coming home as will need my phone
