Remote managed iPad

Hi

needing some help, or just a little advice.

I've just purchased a second hand iPad 5th generation off a online marketplace.
Advert looked good, the photos showed the iPad had been factory reset & ready to start brand new usage.

When I got home & started the set up, I inputted my WiFi password, then got a remote management page, managed by Sky & can't go any further with set up.

Is this something that can be rectified by Sky, or have bought a glorified paperweight.

I know it's an old iPad & probably not worth it, but I've paid for now.

Whatever that page you are seeing is, it isn't something that Sky can or will be able to help you with.

Hi

many thanks for the reply.

If the iPad is remote managed by Sky & Sky won't be able to help, who could help?

@markie69  A remotely managed device is likely to have been a business provided ipad or enrolled into BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) option at the sellers workplace, they would need to get Sky to unenrol the device from their IT system.

Can you access the settings menu @markie69  ?

  1. Open "Settings" App.
  2. Scroll down and then tap on "General" section from the left menu
  3. Scroll down all the way and then tap on "Device Management"
  4. Then tap on "MDM Profile"
  5. Then tap on "Remove Management"
  6. If it ask for a passcode, Please enter your passcode
  7. From now on device will no longer controlled by a remote person

The above steps will remove the remote management control from the device.

Even if anyone could point you in their direction @markie69 i doubt they would help, that iPad will be registered to a company/organisation and that group would need to request any removal.

@markie69  You don't work for Sky, the person who did/does is the one responsible to get it deregistered, assuming they still work there, if not  it would have been removed upon account deletion.

The IT team have no responsibility to a non employee.

I'm afraid it's down to the seller to sort out and if they won't then you need to raise it with the site you bought it through.

And TBH this isn't a Sky issue as they did not sell you the device so have no responsibility to sort it out.

I would try the steps in the link posted by @PandJ2020 as this may be your only option now.
